Virgin Galactic is re-opening ticket sales

Virgin Galactic stock has been on a tear lately, helped by news that the company is making great progress on its new starship, and increasing demand for tickets. A strong stock market doesn’t hurt either.

Things are looking pretty good right now. So good in fact, that later this year the company will start selling tickets again. They stopped after the accident in 2014 that killed a pilot during a test flight.

Enrico Palermo, chief operating officer, said that the company has a backlog of 600 people who have placed deposits for a trip on a spaceship. Plus there about 3,500 potential customers who have inquired about going on a trip.

Virgin really wants to get people to space this year, and they plan on being profitable by next year.

However, it’s important to note that the company is yet to make money, and it’s still hard to say when Virgin will actually get a tourist to space.
